The Gasconade County R-II School District consists of 354 square miles that encompass part of four counties: Gasconade, Franklin, Crawford, and Osage. The District operates two elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school to educate over 1800 students. The District continues to perform above the state average on Annual Performance Reports. A wide array of programs and services are offered to ensure every student has the ability to explore and fulfill his/her full potential in an environment of high expectations and personal support. Owensville Elementary School
Owensville Elementary offers an inviting learning environment for all of their 550 students. OES offers a complete Pre-K through 5th grade educational program that includes gifted education, pre-school education, special education, Vision tutoring, a strong integrated approach to instruction, Title I services, Positive Behavior Supports program, and balanced literacy approach to reading and writing. In addition to the rigorous core curriculum, students are exposed to a variety of exploratory opportunities in an environment of high expectations through personal support.
Gerald Elementary School
Gerald Elementary offers a family friendly atmosphere to their approximately 300 students. The school offers a complete Pre-K through 5 educational program that includes gifted, education, pre-school education, special education, Vision tutoring, after-school tutoring, Title I services, and a classroom counseling character education program. Gerald boasts a very supportive staff and community which has high expectations and provides personal support for the students. Students are exposed to a rigorous core curriculum and are exposed to a variety of exploratory classrooms that include art, music, physical education, and library.
Owensville Middle School
The Gasconade County R II Middle School houses students in grades 6-8. Students from GES and OES come together at the middle school. The middle school continues to evolve as a community of learners where students experience the joy of learning, where staff members take pride in their efforts, and where parents feel welcome as a component of the educational process. We have embraced the use of technology in our classrooms. Every student has the use of a Chromebook which enhances the learning and also connects and prepares them for their future. The middle school has a team concept as its foundation. Students, parents, and all staff members are expected to be contributing members of the team. Our mission is to meet the unique social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs of the students attending our school. Our philosophy is to provide encouragement, guidance, and direction for the individual learner. All members of the school and community will work together to develop members of society who are well rounded socially, intellectually, emotionally and physically. The curriculum will provide opportunities for students to develop knowledge, attitudes, skills, and creative abilities necessary for solving the increasing and complex issues facing our society and world environment. Through a variety of learning experiences, an emphasis will be placed on the core academic areas, along with the exploration of each child’s individual ability in exploratory courses of health, art, music, skilled technical sciences, and physical education. Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of both extra and co-curricular activities. This student-centered approach develops the whole person as a responsible citizen and life-long learner.
Owensville High School
Owensville High School serves approximately 575 students for grades 9 through 12. A wide variety of classes are offered to meet the individual needs and interests of our students. Classes are designed to challenge students whose post high school plans are to attend college or enter the work force. Dual credit and Advanced Placement (AP) classes are offered for those students who wish to earn college credit while still in high school. Students who attend OHS consistently score above state and national averages on the ACT and the state End of Course (EOC’s) assessments. Student participation in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities has consistently been above eighty percent. Examples of activities offered are the interscholastic sports of baseball, softball, basketball, football, golf, track, volleyball, cross country, and wrestling; the interscholastic activities of band, choir, drama, FFA, scholar bowl, and speech; and clubs such as: art club, foreign language club, chess club, sign language club, FCCLA, DECA, National Honor Society (NHS), Mock Trial, and hunting and fishing club.
District Programs
The District offers a wide array of programs to assist students reach their full potential and prepare to become leaders in the 21st Century. Integrated technology programs such as a 1:1 initiative, Engineer by Design, and the latest technology within each classroom assists students connect with the content, collaborate with others, and connect with the world. A state-of-the-art STEAM Lab (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) is located at OHS to assist students' problem solve, collaborate, create, and integrate various disciplines in real work settings. Other programs include Gifted Education, Special Education for all Disabled Students, Vocational School opportunities, Advanced Placement and Dual Credit courses, business courses, and a strong suite of elective courses to prepare students to be College and Career ready.
Parents As Teachers
